Southern Leg A Hit In Nashville

The Southern Leg finished up the Reds’ first ever Caravan stop in Nashville, TN. Plenty of Reds fans flocked to the RiverGate Mall to meet members of the “Rock Star” tour. Former Reds reliever John Riedling, who lives in nearby Franklin, came out to renew acquaintances with Marty Brennaman and Chris Welsh. John is out of baseball and coaching his kids’ sports teams.

For the first time since the Caravan started on Thursday, the traveling party was not served fast food chicken for a meal.

Now, the bus is on the road for a while as they travel back north to Lexington for a private stop at Kentucky Children’s Hospital.

I went to the Rivergate stop with my daughter. Gapper was a big hit with my daughter and the Reds were a big hit in Nashville. I would estimate the crowd at at least 1000..probably more. There was not a lot of time to converse as they were trying to keep the line moving so everyone could get something signed. It’s good to see the Reds back in Middle Tennessee. When the Reds has their AA affiliate in Nashville in the late 70’s (which led the nation in minor league attendance) they were by far the most popular major league team in Nashville. It’s good to see them trying to re establish themselves in middle Tennessee.
